A simple question
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

Thanksgiving is only two weeks away and I'm thinking about it everyday. My family together again!    As you may or may not know, I usually fry a turkey and grill 2 ducks (I'll send you the recipe if you'd like:). I'm thinking about changing things up a bit...like smoking one duck while I grill the other. What do you think? It'll require more time

It's Urgent
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

Ever notice how everything we see and read has a sense of urgency about it?   These are 3 of today's headlines... • Another intraparty revolt by Democrats imperils swift passage... • "It's our lives on the line": Thousands of young protesters demand urgent action on... • All those 23andMe spit test were part of a bigger plan.   Not to mention the

True story...   An employee refused to come into work because his girlfriend hadn't washed his socks. The scaffolder contacted his boss to say that he just couldn't make it in. He tweeted: "I can't come in I can't find any f****** socks she ain't washed f*** all so ain't got nuffin and can't where none because boots got big holes in ffs soz buddy

Turkey Day...
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

Big discussion here...do we have Thanksgiving like we used to...Or not.   I say YES. I've already got my peanut oil for the fried turkey and placed my order for the ducks (wait for it...Norm has a joke for this:) I even built a new area just for frying the turkey too.   After having a great dinner the other night with friends - the feelings of bein

Traffic

I've had the privilege of driving to New Jersey and Brooklyn this past week. Planning the trip to Brooklyn on Wednesday, Waze told me it would take about an hour from my house. It actually took over 2 hours...okay. However, I left the appointment at 2:30 and Waze came up with a 1.5 hour drive. It took over 3 hours.    Jersey could've been in a dif

Lawn Speeding
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

Now this is a record worth mentioning especially since I cut the lawn at my house. A British man broke a Guinness World Record when he built a riding lawn mower that reaches a speed of 143.19 mph.   Tony Edwards, a mechanical engineer from St. Martins, Shropshire, England, said he powered the lawnmower with a 1300cc unit from a Suzuki motorcycle.

Refreshing

Anyone else find the cool weather a welcome break?   True it's symbol of the coming winter that's predicted to be more snowier (is that a word?) than ever but last night I had dinner with my family outdoors and it felt great not to be sweating while eating :)   To me a sunny cool day is football weather. It reminds me of my playing days. I loved sm

A Mystery Mash
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

We are definitely living in crazy times. Residents of a neighborhood in Jackson, Mississippi, are finding bowls of mashed potatoes on their cars, porches and mailboxes.   Jordan Lewis a local resident said. "So we don't know if someone is just playing a prank or if someone just had a lot of leftovers,"    It's unclear if anyone has eaten the potato

Tiny pocket
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

You ever wonder why there's a tiny pocket above the front pocket on some jeans?    I did so I consulted the oracle. Turns out it had a clear reason behind its creation. It’s just that we don’t use it for that reason today.   That small pocket originated back in the late 1800s with the first pair of jeans sold by Levi Strauss & Co and the re

A clear day
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

I remember looking out the window of my office and saying out loud "It's such a clear day, how could someone fly into the Word Trade Center?"   When the second plane hit the second tower, I was transfixed to the TV trying to understand what just happened.    The brave men and women on the ground and in the air responded. Welles Remy Crowther was on

Launching

Funny thing about websites...you can test all you want (which we did on about 25 devices) but when you launch, it can be a totally different outcome. I've been battling some crazy issues this week which I did not expect. I believe (hope) we have ironed out most of them.   This new site was conceived over 2 years ago and I'm so happy it's finally li

A Friday afternoon laugh

Driving home I swung into the drive-through at Starbucks to get my favorite summer drink.   This is the actual conversation:   Starbucks employee: Hi...welcome to Starbucks what can I get started for you? Me: I'd like an iced grande black tea lemonade, No sugar please Starbucks employee: With sugar? Me: No...noooo sugar please Starbucks employee:

I see you

I recently attended an outdoor networking event and had the experience of meeting someone in person I've only met on Zoom. It was quite strange. Being in their physical presence is a totally different kind of energy. You're meeting the entire person, not just a Hollywood Square on your computer screen.   It felt a bit awkward at first then it see

Frustrations
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

Everyone seems to be on edge. On the road and in the stores as I experienced.   I recently had to replace my phone and dutifully went to the Verizon store near me and patiently waited my turn for 20 minutes. Once at the counter, shrouded by plexiglass, I strained to listen to a young man with a heavy accent. He detailed my options which I had to ge
