Making the Team
Posted By : Carly Bentley

Do you remember when you were a wee lad or lass and it was time to pick teams for dodgeball, basketball or some gym team sport, or neighborhood front-lawn game?  It was an interesting study of the human condition, as children. The desire to be "picked for the team" and not be the last man or woman standing was gut-wrenching. Remember? I think I was

“South Paw”
Posted By : Carly Bentley

“Barn Kitty” earned a new name. “South Paw.” He survived the surgery and now has 1 less paw. It hasn’t stopped him from his cat-like grace. Rest and cuddles help in the recovery process, along with physical therapy sessions, raw meat and filtered spring water. Ginger faces, green-eyed sweetness and one less left-hook. He’s gonna be paw-right.

"Barn Kitty"
Posted By : Carly Bentley

Pull up a chair....this is a story you'll want to share with your kids, your spouse and your parents. 2 months ago, a little tiny orange kitten showed up at my door at 11pm, with his tiny litte kitty voice saying "mew...mew...mew." (It's important that you know I live in the middle of Nowhere, Pa. Literally.) I slowly opened the door, thinking, how

2020 Goals
Posted By : Carly Bentley

Do you create resolutions or have a new focus for the new year? Last night I asked a group of friends what their focus was for 2020. They hesitated and none of them were able to articulate a real response. I have 3 activities I would like to set in motion and accomplish in the new year. 1) One new gal pal to do fun stuff with, have deep talks an

Treasure Today

We were on the 10th hole at Mustang Golf Course in Naples Florida when the phone rang. My husband answered the phone and I picked up my 4 rescue, lined up and swung. The next thing I heard was “I don’t care if your scared, go in and see if she’s OK”. That’s all I needed to hear. Something was terribly wrong. My sister-in-law, died on New Years Eve

You Have My Support
Posted By : Carly Bentley

I read an article in the Wall Street Journal last week about Positivity and Negativity in relationships. Hearing the statistics a second time did reinforce what I already knew about words and their effect on relationships. Did you know that for every negative comment you make to someone it take 5 to 7 positive comments to offset the negative?  I'm

Sum Up
Posted By : Carly Bentley

Nicknames. One word descriptors. A catchy phrase that sums up a person. A personal tag line. A tag line you give someone else. Interesting introspection. We were sitting at Sea Salt restaurant “people watching” late last week in Naples when a person in our party began to describe various locals. “Drummer Charlie”, “Bob the complainer“, “Reese Piec

Scary Santa

Why do we torcher the kids? Have you ever listened to the words of Santa Claus is Coming to Town? You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout I'm telling you why.... (no crying?) He sees you when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake, he knows when you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake! (creepy) He's making a

Brain Check

Recently, I was asked to sit on the board of a non-profit in Center City Philadelphia. Anticipation was plentiful. I was thrilled at the opportunity to learn more and help solve a few issues during my term. The board room was full of eager people. 12 overacheivers sharpening their proverbial pencils. With introductions complete, the first question

Flexibility

Concrete Thinkers vs. Abstract Thinkers Have you ever met someone that takes everything literally? Chances are, they are probably more of a concrete thinker. Concrete thinking focuses on what is physically around you. Concrete thinkers see a physical object and just think of what's in front of them. They may see their surroundings but not see beyon

Ugh! What does late communicate?
Posted By : Carly Bentley

When it comes to being a time, it seems there are two distinctly different types of people. Those that are On-Time and those that are Late. English author Edward Verrall Lucas said "I have noticed that people who are late are much jollier than the people who have to wait for them." Grrr... Depending what culture you come from or what culture you're

The BIG Bird

Thanksgiving does provide a platform of focus on our gratitude for gifts bestowed. Over the past two weeks there have been spiritual moments commanding reflection internally, of which I have found profoundly inspirational. Actively taking inventory of my relationships and applying the philosophical question of “WHY are they in my life and WHAT is n

Better Late than Never

Exciting activities abound! Yesterday I was the Master of Ceremonies for West Chester University’s Women Entrepreneurship Conference and boy what a treat. I’m still digging through all of the invites and sifting through the opportunity to help my fellow sorority sisters. The ideas abound. Inspiration was the name of the game. It felt like a giant
