I love watching the Oscars. I enjoy watching the show to see the different gowns the people in the audience will be wearing. I am also interested in the awards themselves, to see whether I will agree with “The Academy’s” choice of best picture, best actor etc. And, if I haven’t seen a movie that received awards, I will tend to see it after the Oscars.
I am also an avid reader of movie reviews. Often, when a movie is first released, I will read the reviews before deciding whether to see the film. Bad reviews often impact my decision whether to see a film.
Interestingly, my husband, on the other hand, is the opposite. He never watches the Oscars. He, also, will never read a movie review. He feels that his decision to see a movie is solely his; no review or award will affect his decision whether to see a movie.
What do you think? Do awards or reviews impact your movie viewing? Or, are you like my husband, an independent movie goer?
