Tomorrow is a special day. I point out that if it were not this year, it would still be a special day as we celebrate Martin Luther King.
In thinking about tomorrow and the change(s) to then occur, as well the traditional Martin Luther King Day observances, I looked at my playlists and offer these for your consideration:
Songs to Inspire aka “Inspiration” (first posted October 29, 2017; updated 2020-05-25)
New State of Our Union playlist (first posted January 24, 2021; updated 2024-03-11)
State of DisUnion playlist (first posted February 5, 2019; updated & renamed 2021-02-13)
and
America's Big Day (Created on American Independence Day to share my musical view of this important day in American history; created & verified July 4, 2024)
I created the first version of the Inspiration list as part of a project during my first semester at Hofstra University; it was a “companion” cassette tape that accompanied a myth I authored as a project for a mythology course. I never got the tape back but some years later I found a hand written list of the tunes; one day I was motivated to re-create it on then iTunes (now Apple Music). A YouTube playlist followed.
Last summer, I created America's Big Day to celebrate Independence Day.
Two other playlists each offer their own messages. The song titles in each make that clear.
I close with a preference for optimism; not sure that fully applies to the day at hand but as they say “hope springs eternal.”
