The Notorious RBG Tis' Herself: An affectionate expression in both Irish and Scottish language denoting a woman of importance, usually the Lady of the house. When I think of Ruth, I think “Tis’ Herself.” The Notorious R.B.G. On the Basis of Sex, Mimi Leder did a spectacular job directing the movie of Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s struggles for equal rights. Her life, her accomplishments and her steady reason are supernatural, G-d inspired. Ruth’s purposeful existence and creative ideas materialized and continue to carry out a mission and purpose greater than herself. She stirs the human spirit and presents us with viewpoints that move us to reconsider our perspectives and expand the scope of our senses of inclusion in society. I’m thankful for her insight, her leadership and for her voice. Women like Gloria Steinem, Betty Friedan and Sheryl Sandberg remind us to liberate our society of paradigms that no longer apply; both men and women. I was captivated by Ruth’s intelligence and her courage to push the envelope; to question the status quo and continue becoming. Ruth not only opened our eyes and taught us to think differently, she actually changed the societal culture of the United States by overturning many laws that discriminated on the basis of sex.
