Last weekend, Flo and I took our grandson, Jackson, to the Train Show at the New York Botanical Garden.
For an hour or so, I looked at the world through the eyes of a three-year-old. I shared his amazement as the G-scale trains circled the reconstructions of the great sites of New York City, past the historical buildings and over the famous bridges. I waved “Hi!” and “Bye-Bye” as the trains passed. I wove through crowds of people who were no obstacle between me and the next train that I had to see. I thrilled at my freedom in a new, exciting and spectacular place. And I was content to sit and watch that special train go by just one more time.
Through the eyes of a child. Absorbing it all. Reacting without constraint.
There are so many amazing things around us. Take a child and see the world through his eyes.
