There are three movies out now that have some common themes. They are Gravity, Captain Phillips, and All is Lost starring Robert Redford. They each in their own very different settings deal with danger, life and death, and courage.
All is Lost is all Redford. Literally. Though the dangers of a man alone at sea were predictable, it was still gripping and uncommon. A movie with essentially no dialogue, it reminds me of The Old Man and The Sea by Hemingway. As were were walking out of the theatre I was not the only one muttering that I will never go in a small boat.
Of the three though I liked Gravity most of all. Like All is Lost, anything that can go wrong does. Job in space.
After those three I need a good comedy.
