With Christmas days away, I would like to share my most poignant Christmas memory.
I was about 3 or 4 years old and I vividly recall opening presents with my mom and dad under our Christmas tree. And there was this very very special present, which I remember all these years later as a whirling dervish, spinning top which I activated by pulling a string to put it in motion as is threw off spectacular sparks.
I was a very very happy little boy!
As the morning wore on, I continued to marvel as I pulled the string in awe.
Then my mom came over to me and told me we were having Christmas Day guests and another little boy was coming and she had no present for him.
It was then that I started to lose my childhood innocence, as she told me we had to give him the top. She whispered in my ear, "It's better to give than receive"...
I remember it like it was yesterday.
PS: Maybe Santa will return my cherished top to me this Christmas.
