Shhhhh, don’t tell my mom. With Mother’s Day coming up, my sister and I put our heads together to come up with a meaningful gift for mom. She’s had a rough time lately and we were hoping to come up with something that might give her a lift.
I think we did or at least I hope so.
Have you seen a Skylight frame? It is basically a digital frame to which anyone can send photos that will miraculously appear if you touch the button that says, wait for it . . . “Tap Here to View New Photos”. It is as easy as sending an email. In fact, the frame has its own email address.
In order to make this plan work, we all went on a photo hunt – through our phones and computers, through old photo albums and boxes of photos. Honestly, that was a gift to each of us.
We found pictures of mom and dad when they were dating and from their wedding. Pictures of dad in the Korean War. Young pictures of my sister and I. Weddings, bar mitzvahs, her friends from high school, her beloved mother and all of her grandchildren. Not a bad stroll down memory lane.
Now sitting on my kitchen counter is this ever changing slide show -- and we just keep adding.
I hope she enjoys our gift as much as we have enjoyed putting it together for her.
Early Happy Mother’s Day to all of you who will celebrate.
