There was so much hype about the Strawberry Moon that was making an appearance over the last few days, that we were determined to view the promised spectacle.
We are very amateur at moon gazing and only considered clouds as the impediment to our plans. How wonderful that the night sky would be virtually cloudless. But we soon learned of two additional significant factors — moonrise and trees.
Moonrise the other evening was 9:12 pm but the horizon and trees blocked any view until later. Unfortunately, we had neither a view from the twentieth floor nor from the endless prairie.
Nevertheless, we were determined. We drove searching for a vantage point. To no avail.
When we returned home, the dramatic Strawberry Moon - which was not as colorful as advertised - was perched high above.... visible through the trees.
