Today I am thinking about hang-overs. Probably because I have one. We spent Saturday night at my sister-in-law’s fiftieth birthday party at Dockers in Quogue. It was a fabulous time but, as I am writing this on Sunday morning, I am feeling the pain now. I have a very low tolerance for alcohol; one glass on an empty stomach and I am in pain the next day.
Hang-overs are also on my mind as today is my youngest daughter, Sydney’s, twenty-first birthday. Sydney is spending the summer in Buffalo working at a day treatment program for children with special needs. If you follow me on Facebook, you know that we went up to Buffalo last weekend to celebrate her birthday and there was a lot of eating involved in our celebration. I suspect there will be a lot more celebrating this weekend up in Buffalo and, as a result, hang-overs may be on Sydney’s mind also.
I went to college at SUNY Stony Brook. A large portion of my friends were pre-med, pre-dental etc. majors. As self proclaimed science nerds, they thought we had devised the perfect hang-over cure; drink a full glass of water before going to sleep along with two then aspirin now Advil. The only problem I have with this “cure” are the numerous times I forget to drink the water before I go to sleep, as I did last night. Ugh!!
What’s your hang-over cure?
Happy happy 21st birthday Sydney. We love you very much and are proud of you every single day.
