When I hear people talk about being “burned out.”  it makes me think about campfires and warnings from Smokey the Bear- remember him?  “Only YOU can prevent forest fires!”

When we used to go camping, after finishing with the campfire, it was important to make sure the fire was completely extinguished because leaving even a small spark in the ashes could rekindle the flames.

Perhaps, that feeling of being burned out is an opportunity. It is a sign that we need to rekindle the spark that once fueled our fire. Remembering what drove us, what got us excited and where we found satisfaction, might do the trick and fan the flame.

And if not, that’s OK. The ash left after the fire is completely burned out makes a wonderful base upon which to build another fire or it can serve as a fertilizer to grow something completely new and different.

Is “burnout something you have experienced?” How do you get your ash in gear?
