Why do we torcher the kids? Have you ever listened to the words of Santa Claus is Coming to Town?

You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout I'm telling you why.... (no crying?)

He sees you when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake, he knows when you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake! (creepy)

He's making a list and checking it twice, gonna find out who's naughty or nice... (ummmm, opps)

Every year we place our precious children on the lap of a complete stranger, dressed as Ol' Saint Nicholas with a big, itchy white beard and yellow teeth. We encourage the child to give Santa the wish list. We tell the children he comes down the chimney in the middle of the night, whilst we're sleeping. YES, it's magical. We make it fun and light-hearted, but have we ever stopped to think about what we're saying?

I love Santa Clause and I love the idea, but noticed most children have a terrified look on their face when they sit on Santa's lap. A strange, uncertain, scared and sometimes terrified look.
