Last weekend we enjoyed the first use of our verified TSA enrollments. It involved a short flight to Roanoke. As to the lines, we appeared not to save much time, since we caught a not so busy time. Nonetheless, I enjoyed not needing to shed my sneakers and unpack the Mac, iPad and iPhone. And we enjoyed that same convenience on the return trip. Lightning, however, grounded our plane a few hours and marred my plans to attend the “famous” Gotham “Quad” Long Island meeting – really a nice cocktail party. I emailed Fred Klein and Lisa Waterman the changes in flight status. I read a friend’s book during the wait so I could contribute a promised review to include pre-publication; wrote the review towards the end of the flight. The purpose of the flight involved a combination vacation/convention with good friends.
The convention part included the election and installation of our good friend, Roger Siegel as “Imperial Prince” of the Dramatic Order of the Knights of Khorassan (“DOKK” aka the “DOKEYS”). The DOKEYS are affiliated with the Knights of Pythias, the first fraternal organization chartered by Act of Congress (in 1864). Shelly and I joined a good number of New Yorkers who trekked to Roanoke, Virginia to support Roger.
Just being around a lot of fun people can make any vacation rather enjoyable. Can you tell by the photo associated with this blog?
