Quirks

Quirks

Every relationship comes with its quirks—those little habits that might drive our partner up the wall. At first, these habits might seem insignificant, but over time, they can test patience. Yet, those that love us, or those we love, see our quirks and choose to love us anyway.

My husband is almost phobic about anyone or anything touching his eyes. I, on the other hand, have been wearing soft contact lenses for over thirty years, and have no issue with putting them in or taking them out anywhere and anytime. If they feel uncomfortable while I am eating dinner at home, I will take them out. If I’m laying in bed at night I’ll take them out.

While I try to be cognizant about my husband’s abhorrence of my actions and turn away, the look on his face says it all.  He is clearly repulsed by my actions. And while I sometimes excuse myself and  walk into the bathroom, most times I just take them out habitually when I feel I want or need to.

My husband is a gem for tolerating this habit of mine that he finds repulsive.  Do you or your partner have similar quirks that you tolerate?
