This is to thank all of you who contributed to Gotham's annual Season of Giving. To be more precise, tax deductible contributions were made by many of you to Gotham's Foundation and totaled $20,000 this year.
Special thanks are extended to Marc Halpert, Gotham's credit card purveyor who donated back over $500 in credit card fees and Raj Goel, Michael Farrell and Josh Zinder who matched credit card contributions for the months September, October and November, respectively. And last, but not least, to our annual "Closers", both named Scott Levine, who made very generous final contributions to take us over the top and close out our efforts.
Our Season of Giving tradition is truly a Tribal team effort which epitimizes our Gotham mantra that it is better to give than receive, but what goes around comes around!
This laudable initiative has been in place since 2005 and was the brain storm of Esther Horowitz and her other then group members a number of years ago and, to be honest, it is one of the very best things our Gotham Tribe endeavors to do.
On Tuesday night, at our annual holiday party, we made the following four $5000 grants to:
DOROT
National Dance Institute
Muscular Dystrophy Association
American Diabetes Association.
The recipients were literally chosen out of a hat by Gotham accountant and Group leader Michael Garibaldi (pictured above). You can view prior grant recipients by visiting the Foundation web site at www.gothamfoundation.org.
Another purpose of this blog is to apologize to those I may have pestered and/or annoyed with my constant (obsessive) emails to fredslist requesting contributions up to the very last minute.
Sometimes I just can't help myself!
