Last Saturday night, at around 9:15, I walked outside to check the night air. I looked up and saw a group of six or seven orange objects moving across the sky from the southwest to the northeast. They glowed and appeared to be ablaze.
As the first group slowly disappeared, a second group of two or three appeared and followed. And finally a last lone object - the same as the others - crossed the night sky.
I had called Flo to come outside. She observed the phenomenon and took pictures of the glowing lights as they passed in the dark sky. Startled but mostly curious, we tried to figure out what we had witnessed. Flo contacted the local news station. I went online searching for aircraft activity. Nothing.
And nothing in the news the next day.
I am generally not an hysteric.... Don’t believe in UFOs.... but thoughts entered my mind.
My rational mind told me that there must be an answer. But what was it?
The next day, Flo mentioned the phenomenon to our son - the family’s scientist. After a few questions and some analysis, Jeremy suggested that it was probably Chinese Tea Lamps that were sent aloft nearby not too far away.
I researched Chinese Tea Lamps and it all made sense. A ceremonial release nearby. The glowing relatively small lamps floated at a few hundred feet but the perspective made them look like ..... well you know.
