Next Sunday, one day following the First 100 days of the current administration, Gotham hosts its annual Battle of the Bands. Discussions about politics tend towards controversy and division. Music tends to bring people of different persuasions together.

Friday I posted the text of my presentation last Wednesday eve hosted by the Gotham Executive Group on “The Almost 100 days.” I enjoyed doing the talk and the Question and Answer period that followed. The comments on Facebook ran the gamut when folks align one way or another (oh that’s a song title).

That demonstrates my point about music. I attended some great concerts with one who disagreed with my critique.

And that’s why I look forward to April 30 at Cafe What? to listen and watch six worthy bands competing for the Gotham “crown”.

Upstate Rubdown 3:00 p.m.

Yeah Whatever 3:30 p.m.

A Royal Crime 4:00 p.m.

The Offshoots 4:30 p.m.

Parkway South 5:00 p.m.

Off The Record 5:30 p.m.

It may not be Timothy B. Schmit or Richie Furay (that’s next month) but I personally guarantee you’ll enjoy the afternoon of April 30 if you join us.

Check it out. (And a shout out to our Executive Producer for this stellar concert, Norm Spizz.)

And for those interested, my April 19 talk will be posted to my YouTube channel as soon as Cayce Crown sends the video over.
