I remember growing up as a kid hearing everyone speak about the television set as if it was extended from the depths of hell from Satan himself. It was destroying people's minds, it would be the end of family time, it was rotting out our BRAINS!
Of course it didn't and of course we are saying the same things now about computers and the internet. Some find them the root of all evil, while I think them more akin to the Tree Of Knowledge that could bring the uncivilized parts of the world into enlightenment (with the accepted baggage of course). Either way, the potential heights and depths are limitless.
Last Friday, our family and my sister-law's family all hung out in our living room (about 8 of us) with the hockey game on TV, having a few drinks and all playing Trivia Crack against each other. A mish-mosh of games between each other, overridden by different allegiances helping each other out, balancing our desire to win with our generosity and sportsmanship. It was fun, wholesome and remarkably engaging for the family members of all different ages. It wasn't planned out, rather it just kind of fell together like that, the way most good times do.
