In advance of giving Tuesday, I wrote about the capital campaign for Services Now for Adult Persons, Inc. (SNAP), an innovative social service agency – which I serve as its board chair (Renee Richter also serves on its board as does former Gothamite Evelyn Miller Suber, spouse of Gotham Queens member Tony Suber; Mindy Stern also served on the board before leaving NY.) – dedicated to improving and enhancing the quality of life for older adults in Queens. I shared information from a one-pager about this effort to upgrade from its existing facility which no longer meets existing and future needs and from which SNAP must vacate. As I shared with Gotham in a “Promo” post just before the year ended, “Tuesday evening (December 27) Member of Congress Tom Suozzi called me to share word that he secured $750,000 for our new building project ("This project would help construct a state-of-the-art facility including a commercial kitchen, dining area, classroom, and programmatic and office space for SNAP to continue providing their direct services to independent seniors, those in need of support in the home, and those with cognitive issues in need of monitoring.”).”
SNAP is very thankful to the Congressman for his support of SNAP. Below view my tweet thanking Tom who completed his term when the new Congress opened last Wednesday to begin its process to select a new speaker (“achieved” yesterday):
Many welcomed this allocation and SNAP received encouragement from many others so we hope this generous funding induces the provision of additional resources. SNAP and its board are working hard in that regard.
By the way Gothamite’s Joshua Zinder is our architect and Steve Glassberg our construction attorney.
