This blog is not about politics. This blog is about friendship.
I like to follow-just out of personal interest-the decisions of the United States Supreme Court. I was really shocked to read, in many of the articles about the sudden death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, that he maintained a close personal friendship with fellow Justice Ruth Bader-Ginsberg. Anyone who follows the Supreme Court knows that these two justices are as far apart on almost any issue as two people can be; with him being the conservative and she being the liberal.
I wonder what the two of them would talk about away from the Court. And whether their vast differences of opinion would impact their discussions. In other words, what sort of personal qualities does one have to possess in order to maintain a friendship with someone who sees the world so differently than you?
