The news from the Box Office for Movie Theaters is improving. For each of the last 3 weeks, the 100 million dollar mark was hit for the first time since Covid shut down the in-person movie business. People have been heading to the movies to see James Bond in No Time to Die. The scary Halloween Kills and Marvel’s Venom did very well, too.
I wanted to see how a movie on the 55 inch at home measured up on the huge screen. In the past, the usual routine was to see a movie at the theater and if you liked it you would watch it again on HBO or rent the DVD. It was enjoyable to relive the movie at home.
This time I reversed the process, I watched The Many Saints of Newark (Sopranos Prequel) on HBO Max. Then, I went for a matinee at my local theater. (I was the only one there.) Seeing the scenes unfold on the huge screen made the movie come alive for me, even more. One of the climatic scenes, set at the ocean, was incredibly beautiful and depicted the work of the cinematographer perfectly. The music sounded even better with the powerful speakers.
Last year was the at home movie year. I saw Nomadland, Minari, One Night In Miami and many more good ones at home. I look forward to seeing some of them at a theater one day.
What movie did you enjoy, so much, at home that you wish you could see on the Big Screen?
