Do you post reviews on the internet or social media? Several years ago I wrote a series of blogs about how it felt to be the victim of a vicious, and fraudulent, internet attack. Since that time, I have learned how to properly protect my online reputation and how important it is to do so.

I decided, however, that I wanted to take something else out of my personal experience.  I will no longer post a bad review. If I have a problem with the service of any company I will deal with them directly and privately.

Since my own negative experience, I have also made a concerted effort to post positive reviews when I receive good customer service, especially for restaurants who so desperately need to enhance their businesses. Last October I had hired a chef with a portable pizza oven to cater my husband’s 60th birthday party. The food was great and the service was wonderful. I posted about my experience on Facebook. Additionally, I have seen several subsequent posts requesting information on such service. It takes me no time to respond with the vendor’s website and acknowledge my positive experience.

I recently received an email from the vendor thanking me for all my support. He told me that, through my posts, he received at least 7 bookings. As Mitch wrote on Saturday, I did not write the posts for the acknowledgement. But it made me feel good that I was able to help his business in that way.

Do you post on the internet or social media when you have a positive experience? Will you consider doing so now?
