My patience with being patient while waiting to be the patient is waning. Did you get that?
How long are you willing to wait for a doctor? These days, my answer is less and less.
Of course, sometimes there are emergencies. Frankly, if I were the patient with the emergency I would hope the others in the waiting room would be understanding too.
The problem, however, is when the exception swallows the rule. If every time I visit the same doctor I wait for an exorbitant time, something is wrong. Is my time less valuable than theirs? Sometimes, maybe. Most times, not.
I will give anyone the benefit of the doubt, probably more often than I should. But if I’m waiting too long too often, the door calls my name -- never to return again.
Do you have a waiting room breaking point?
