A friend recently posted an interesting question on her Facebook feed. “Do you read books in hardcover? Paperback? E-book? Or Audio?” In one of the comments, she had added, “just answer honestly, no judgments.”

I am an avid Kindle reader. As I answered on my friend’s Facebook page, I love the convenience of not having to schlep four books on vacation. I also love the convenience of having a new book readily available after I have finished one.

In reading the comments I understand why my friend had to add that there would be no judgments. Many of the people who answered that they read only hardcovers or paperbacks added comments such as, “that’s the best way to support the author” or “reading on an E-book isn’t real reading.” As an E-book reader I have encountered numerous comments like that before. Interestingly, however, one of my closest and longtime friends works in a bookstore and has never judged me for reading on my Kindle. In fact, she is a steady source of reading recommendations for me.

So, Gotham, do you read books in hardcover? Paperback? E-book? Or Audio?” Just answer honestly, no judgments.
