Yesterday was my birthday and it was a Happy One!

I was apprehensive about my birthday falling during Blog Happiness Week because I knew that it would have to find its way into my blog. This was one of the big ones -- when the government, movie theaters, and NYC MTA start to look at you differently. My sister -- many years my junior -- captured it. “I can't believe how old you are!”

So, reflecting on my birthday... Happiness is being healthy, smiling when you see yourself in the mirror first thing in the morning (even if you mistake yourself for one of your parents), being with family (especially one that is growing into next generations), having friendships that have lasted more years that the average Gothamite’s age, and having people tell you that you look 10 years younger.

My Mother (who many of you have met) told me that it only gets better from here. So I’ll keep smiling.
