Pomp and Circumstance just never gets old. The excitement just continues to grow as you try to find your graduate in a sea of caps and gowns, and the music crescendos right along with.
Truth be told, from Eric’s graduation last year I have a string of pictures of young men in caps and gowns who I thought were my son – but were not. Eventually, he was on the big overhead screen, and I snapped the right photo.
This time around, I have a most similar string of photos of a crowd of soon to be Georgetown masters’ program graduates, carrying their hoods on their arms. I would have told you at least a half dozen times that I saw Jaclyn in the crowd – but I was wrong.
Georgetown, however, added a much-appreciated aspect to the graduate walk. As each graduate crossed the stage to take their obligatory handshake picture with the dean, the school photographer took a series of close-up pictures that we could see on the jumbotron with your graduate’s name and degree displayed in a banner on the bottom.
Now, that is a picture – and one I now have on my phone!
Congratulations to all of the graduates in your lives – nursery school through PhDs. Each is a step along the way that deserves recognition and applause.
