One of the things I love the most about Gotham is the plethora of options available to follow one’s passions and express oneself, that ventures well beyond business networking!
Friday happy hours, cocktail parties in the TWA terminal at JFK airport, pizza crawls, golf, bowling, Yankees at Mets games at Citifield, softball, sports blogs, “Gotham Green,” Encores and BOB aka Battle Of the Bands, just to name a few.
Last Tuesday night I had the privilege of attending the Neil Young concert at one of my favorite venues, Forest Hills Stadium, with the Gotham Networking Co-Founder and 2 esteemed Gotham Red Bandana winners!
This got me thinking about all the fabulous shows (1000+) that I have been blessed to experience over the years. Attending live music is one of my favorite passions in the world and I have done so as far away as seeing Shirlyn and the UnXpecteds at Blackbirds in Singapore last month!
Before what I call “The Digital Age” we are in now, for years, I saved my concert ticket stubs in a drawer in my closet. My childhood friend Phil (a concert ticket broker) still goes to the ticket box office and talks them into printing out his tickets to continue this tradition.
For the past 10 years or so, I kept a list (in my head) of the bands still touring that I most wanted to see at least once, calling it my Rock Bucket List! My top 3 were Bob Dylan (seen last year at the Capital Theatre in Westchester), Neil Young and John Fogerty who we also saw in 2023 at the new Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater, coupled with a visit to Frank Pepe’s pizzeria (which was solid)!
Between attending those 3 bucket list shows, Battle of the Bands last weekend and the upcoming Rolling Stones show (with Jon Batiste) tomorrow night, to quote my good friend Jim (nicknamed Rev) Canavan, “My Heart is Full!”
That being said, as we move into “Concert Season,” my NEW top 2 bands still touring I haven’t seen are Pearl Jam and the Scorpions, who just started their residency at The Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
My questions to my passionate Gothamites are:
