In the anals of golf, I'm not sure the inventors of this game would of thought of this...although goats did graze on golf courses to keep the grass in check.
In eastern Oregon, there's a luxury resort built on working cattle land called Silvies Valley Ranch. They have a spa, lavish cabins, and four, links-style golf courses. If you go there, make sure you book a tee time on the 7-hole McVeigh's Gauntlet because the caddies on that course are a bit unusual...they're goats!
You can imagine the interesting situations you might find yourself in with a goat caddie. For instance, when Bruce (the chief goat caddie) was on the green when they were trying to putt, the goat just decided to use it as his bathroom. Bruce recounted his thoughts at the time, “Are goats even allowed on the green?”
They even had to invent and make a new golf bag that would fit on a goat.
It’s a whole new level of golf with a whole new set of rules. Wonder if we'll have goat caddies at the Gotham Golf Outing this year...
