Last year going into Father’s Day, I got to attend a mix of concerts and was looking forward to dinner and a show at the City Winery. Today, instead we host our children and our grandniece and grandnephew (their parents have a wedding). The previous week was not all song like the year before but a mix of song and my other non-pecuniary passion, sports.
It started last Sunday eve at the Wellmont Theater in Montclair, New Jersey where Shelly and I got to hear almost all of my fave Moody Blues tunes live without enduring the selections (well-liked by many others) I never look forward to hearing (despite many considering those songs concert highlights). I remarked to Shelly on our ride home how much more I enjoyed just hearing Justin Hayward tunes and that made the concert so much better than a full Moody Blues band concert.
As many readers here (and others) know, I run two groups to a Subway series game each year. This year in addition to that Mets-Yankees game at Citi Field, last Wednesday, at which my team prevailed (Sorry, Friday’s blogger!), Marisa and her dad got to attend the Tuesday eve game courtesy of my Gotham friend, Scott Bloom; other than the outcome, a rather enjoyable experience.
Yesterday, spent some time with mom.
Today, we fire up the grill with three generations present.
And the music continues this week with a final performance by Dead & Company at my baseball team’s stadium and next weekend with Shelly’s fave band, Chicago at the Amphitheater at Bard Hill.
Continuing a tradition, wishing all the dad’s a Happy Father’s Day. Enjoy this Jack Sundrud tune which conveys the sentiment for this day.
P.S. Below its Justin’s setlist last Sunday eve:
