Recently, I attended my (97 years young) Grammy’s memorial service in Illinois. COVID had us waiting to be together as a family, but finally we were able to be together to celebrate her life. Grandma Grace and her beloved had 8 children. Those eight, became 41. With spouses, 75 people rolled in to celebrate her life. It was sad to lose granny. She is like a silent force, ever present. However, I do believe she was thrilled at the showing and especially delighted at the love our family has for one another. Iowa, Illinois, Montana, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Florida, house these family members and traveling didn’t stop us. The best part was watching all the kids play without a single fight, and no tattle tales. Adults too!! Afterwards, we all met at “The Meyer Farmhouse” where my brother and his wife provided a pool, volleyball, cornhole, baseball, basketball, football, a trampoline, hide and seek, campfire and s’mores. We started at 11am and 12 hours later we were still together. Effortless fun, all thanks to Granny Grace. Remembering all those that lost loved-ones. COVID didn’t take granny, but many people lost loved-ones last year. In their honor, love each other today. Life and relationships are precious.
