Some days remind me of time in a political campaign running from event to event. Yesterday fit that description, including a decision not to squeeze in another “stop.” Morning basketball and then a decision whether to stop at the pool or just go home to change for a client union's picnic. Chose home, then the rains come.
Interestingly, the intense thunderstorms hit where I live and where picnic got held; of course when I arrive there I run into a political client, discuss some needs and we set up a date to meet midweek.
Most times, the local's picnic would be the only event but not this day; every summer a good friend hosts a lavish BBQ that brings together friends who he grew up with, attended high school with (my case), or met through his work and union activity. It even enjoys a special name, Cubbyfest.
Some of us may enjoy ongoing relationships that date back to elementary school or high school but not many. Readers of Gotham Networking, Inc.® blogs know another blogger on this site married his high school sweethearts. I still find fascinating how many members of a certain graduating class from Martin Van Buren High School stay in touch – and this started well before Facebook and other social media.
And it all starts with a don't miss summer BBQ at Bell Park Manor-Terrace in Queens Village.
Do you enjoy a similar annual get together on your itinerary? If so, do share.
