Enjoy a super opportunity for fun that supports worthy causes

The Football playoffs started yesterday and I paid no attention with my team (way) out of it. I did notice that I picked correct on yesterday’s outcome for a pool with my friend Eric that started with two seasons back. It often put us in the hate position of picking our team’s opponent even while we rooted for our team to prevail. That all said my focus remains on charity. My Knights of Pythias FDR Lodge 613’s Foundation met last week and I promoted our first set of Superbowl LIX boxes to support our charities. We plan to further promote the set and perhaps offer a second set soon as part of an upcoming BINGO social and fundraiser later this month (check out the cool flyer Eric designed.). Readers of this blog (and others) might enjoy the opportunity to support our charitable effort and reach out to this commentator for “boxes.”

Many enjoy “buying” boxes around the final score or variations on it.

Each year, my FDR Lodge 613’s Kings FDR Tolerance Foundation distributes donations and often scholarships usually in June; we hold additional fundraisers as does Gotham, including the outing to see the Mets engage the Yankees, July 5 (same afternoon as Gotham). As explained in prior blogs this Super Bowl Fundraiser employs what I call the “Ira system” of boxes after Kings-FDR Tolerance Foundation Vice President Ira Spiegel, CPA.

Ira’s system provides 10 ways to win; this method ensures you focus on the game and perhaps root for teams you may otherwise despise (See the sample pic upper left.).

I plan to join some of my closest friends in the lodge at gathering at our “castle hall” to watch the big game. Until the team that last won 56 years ago returns to this league championship game, the hanging certainly exceeds the game for this commentator.

This FDR Super Bowl fundraiser gives this fan of the team in green again not participating in the playoffs something to root for: certain scoring (or non-scoring) at the end of each quarter (overtime does not count). Gotham members often support this effort (I think they enjoy the Ira system.). Last year Gotham’s Vincent Russo, Norm Spizz and Dan Schwartz were among the winners; Gothamite Craig Shink, a fellow Knight already got his and did Scott Bloom who was a Black Friday boxes winner. (hope I did not leave anyone out.).

BTW, did you know that scoring the Superbowl spawned the creation of one of Gotham’s favorite listserves. After our traditional listserve got overwhelmed during the last appearance by New Jersey’s other team (that claims a NY moniker), smart minds created Sportstalk@gothamnetworking.com to move that chatter to its proper place.

Anyone interested in participating in Super Bowl boxes (or the Sportstalk listserve), please reach out.
