This is a re-working of my blog from November 2015. Still true. I needed the reminder.
The greatest gift Gotham gives us is the gift of interaction, engagement and participation with our fellow Gothamites. It reveals who we truly are and what we truly want. A gift unique to Gotham, that you can create events based on your interests, just be prepared to take charge. This is not just the origin of the Film Festival, but Battle of the Bands, Golf Outing, etc etc. Like the Statue of Liberty, the idea came to Monsieur Laboulaye at a dinner party and now is the symbol of freedom throughout the world. Just from an idea.
Gotham is a thriving hive of great ideas.
I am fortunate to work with a great group on the Gotham Film Festival, the Battle of the Bands and (upcoming) seminar series. Being in a group (+ Dana Charlton, lifesaver) and working together on a project we all believe in is what we humans are born for. To carry it to fruition and see the joy, emotions and interest in the attendees was a bonus.
It certainly isn't all rainbows and unicorns, learning to deal with others idiosyncrasies and hoping they can deal with our own. The organic ups and downs of humanity revealed in every interaction.
I encourage all members to participate in the Gotham Networking gestalt; join committees, go to every lunch you can, engage with others members, have ideas.
I look forward to engaging with you. Lets make some good honey.
