Many of us like to enjoy the stage offerings of NYC, but are hesitant because of the price and date commitments.  A great way to be involved is purchasing a subscription to your favorite cultural activity. Memberships to Off-Broadway Theater companies like the Atlantic, Playwright Horizons, and the New Group are great ways to see shows at reasonable prices and have the ability to change performance dates without penalty.  I recently saw “The Bedwetter”" at the Atlantic.  The ticket cost me only $60 for the third row center.  Tickets for non-subscribers are $108.  And if and when the show hits Broadway, the prices will be much higher

The Roundabout Theater Company has both Broadway and Off-Broadway shows on their programs an also provide a great value and flexibility.  A few years ago, Laura Benati was set to miss the performance in “She Loves Me”.  The Roundabout contacted me and offered a new date without a fuss.

I have enjoyed being a member at Jazz at Lincoln Center for many years.  Subscribers get a significant discount and are also able to make changes up to one day in advance.  Being a frequent attendee also provides a sense of belonging and community. There are pre-concert lectures given by the orchestra members that provide insight into to personalities of the players.  Subscribers were invited to a memorial service for one of the orchestra members who passed away. The experience of being part of the “family” was very moving. And, the music of a New Orleans Send-Off was great.

I know some fellow Gotham members who are subscribers to the Opera, the Ballet, and the Philharmonic.  So follow your passion and get ready for 2022-2023 Fall Season of New York’s Culture.
