So I told this story at the MAD meeting yesterday, but I thought I'd share it here as well.

My wife was reading the NY Times and saw a book she wanted to read, went to the library, that book wasn't available, she got another by the same author, loved it , googled what the author was writing about, and we ended up in Costa Rica riding shoeless, bitless horses through the jungle. Astounding experience, but thats not the story.

I friended the woman leading the "workshop" on Facebook.

That was about two and half years ago. Earlier this week, I'm doing my usual browse through on the FB, and Shelley (the horse woman) had shared a video. Now, I don't always watch everything that everyone I'm connected to posts, but this was about Camp Pendleton, a Marine base where my Dad was stationed, and they were honoring a horse that had served in the Korean War, so had my Dad. So I watched.

About 19 seconds in, there is my Dad! Being nuzzled by the horse. Over 60 years ago.

I cannot tell in words you how wonderful this was for me. He passed away in 1998 and I still miss him. I never knew anything about this, he certainly wasn't a guy who shared his war experiences.

Then the fourth or fifth time, I'm watching this I notice the day the statue was unveiled.
