In a not surprising move, Congress is fighting the Obama adminstration to keep selling pizza and french fries in school. Now I'm not here to debate whether we should or should not. I'll leave that to the politics list or feel free to debate it in the comments below.

What it did remind me of is the school lunches I remember as a kid in Great Neck South. Tuesday's were chicken chow mein. Who knows what they piled up on our plates. Very few of us ate it although I did have it from time to time. It was a big gooey pile of green with what looked like chicken strips over some rice. Really filling...

When I got to College, the food I remember most is ice cream. I got to serve myself all the ice cream I wanted :) They had a beautiful shiny silver self serve soft ice cream machine. I learned the art of making those twisty cones with chocolate and vanilla.
