New York City changed its rules yesterday. Cell phones are now allowed in schools. I say, it’s about time.
Just like anything else we teach our children, appropriate time and place for the use of their phones is right there on the list. [In my house, I have to admit I have less credibility than I would like on this subject but let’s ignore that for the moment.]
So, once kids know “time and place” for their phones, I like the fact that they are accessible during the school day. Of course, active cell phone use during class would not be appropriate but a quick text about after school plans or homework doesn’t hurt anyone.
What do you think about cell phones in school?
