During this pandemic we have celebrated a lot of milestone birthdays, 25, 30, 85(my mother-in-law) and soon 60 (my husband). In planning these celebrations and working to make them special during the pandemic a material issue has come up each time, what sort of the birthday cake, cake or ice cream?
For my birthday, although it was not a milestone, it was not even a decision, I love cake. More specifically, I love frosting. I look at cake as a vehicle for delivering the frosting. To make it special, my husband ordered a rainbow layered cake with chocolate frosting online from Carlo’s Bakery. To me, that was the perfect cake, thick fudgy frosting, rainbow sprinkles, and moist cake.
For my mother-in-law and stepson, there was also no issue, their cakes were ice cream cakes. Neither really likes cake (totally unfathomable to me) and love chocolate ice cream. So, for both of them we ordered their favorite-Carvel-with three quarters chocolate and one quarter vanilla ice cream, as a concession to the vanilla eaters. And covered with a lot of fudge.
What kind of birthday cake eater are you? Ice cream or cake?
