A day for more than dad

Because today is that day we plan to gather here -- we call it "Grand Junction."  Marisa gave it that name as a "nom de pen" in a social media app I do not believe any in this family uses; I believe it operates albeit somewhat differently.  But I digress.  We plan a brunch around my fave smoked fish and then father and son will grill later.  But to borrow an analogy from Gotham that Friday's blogger who incredulously featured me in his commentary that appeared two days ago: the food is secondary; it's about getting together.  Frankly, that's all that matters.  Even though it's "my" day as the dad, I look forward to sharing it with family that originally occupied this space plus the one added officially in the fall of 2021.  The (NY) Times has a subscriber-only music newsletter, Amplify, and it featured not songs with today's theme (think perhaps Harry Chapin's "Cat's in the Cradle" or "Father and son" by the artist then known as Cat Stevens; the featured songs the writer called "Dad's rock." While some of the featured songs, my children learned to love hearing it played in the car or on my stereo, I certainly was not a dad when I first heard "Baba O'Riley" from Who's Next, among other tunes.  Interesting concept though.  But as I wish all the dad's (including this commentator), Happy Father's Day!, I stick with this song I consider most fitting, "Father's Day," by Poco's last bass player, Jack Sundrud (Here's a live version with Poco and this is the "official" video.)
