Twice a week I go to court.  Not unusual for an attorney but not that kind of venue.

It may surprise some folks but I get together with some good guys Saturday mornings and Tuesdays eves to play ball; we play full court basketball over two hours.

Mostly it includes men of a certain age; a few younger, and sometimes a few younger ones (a son and stepson of one).

We started playing at a school gym in Bayside where one of our number served as its principal.  We even enjoy a sponsor: FDR Lodge 613 Knights of Pythias where we are members.

Construction there required a move a few years back.  We found a school in Bellerose for Tuesdays and another, my old elementary school, in Floral Park for Saturdays.  Eventually we consolidated at my former school.

What's really cool now involves the brand new glass backboards that got installed this past Tuesdays (We played Monday this past week to accomodate the installation.).  Earlier in the year, we welcomed a brand new floor and padded gym walls.

This morning we only had ten players.  We divided up sides.  My team decided to play zone defense; I played center.  We played three very close games; my team won the middle game.

The new rims seemed softer for the other team; we had some shots that rimmed out.  Still, it made for a lot of fun.  And at a place which still holds many memories from carefree days of youth.
