There sure is a lot of bad news these days. Lots of killings - Paris, Israel, Mali. It is a pretty scary world. And some of the ideas about how to deal with it can be pretty scary too. Especially from you know who.

It's important to remember the good things, even if they don't make headlines. After all, this is the time of year to be grateful.

Here's a good thing I like to think about and that I am grateful for: My son Josh and my daughter in law Lisa are going to have a baby. They are due in February, so they are in the final stretch. This will be grandchild number 3.  As parents, you have to think about how many children you want. Not so with grandchildren. There is no limit; I say keep them coming.

People always ask me if Josh and Lisa know what they are having. Of course, I say. A Democrat.
