<p class="ydp521e9633yiv2158194544ydpcc421893MsoNormal">My Mom passed due to Parkinsons Disease. For the three years before she died Parkinsons insidiously robbed my Mom of her dignity by taking her physical capabilities and, in the end, her mental abilities
as well. The last time I saw my Mom she could not walk, speak, or swallow and did not recognize me. </p>

<p class="ydp521e9633yiv2158194544ydpcc421893MsoNormal">Knowing how Parkinsons Disease affected my Mom and our family, my husband did not hesitate to dedicate his donations to the 2011 Summer of Giving to the Michael J. Fox Parkinsons Foundation. Although
I planned on attending the dinner portion of the outing that summer, I came down with a stomach virus that morning which forced me to change my plans. The flood of emails I began receiving that evening telling us that my husbands business card had been chosen
immediately made me cry. Through my tears, I called my brother and sister and told them about the donation and they also broke down.</p>

<p class="ydp521e9633yiv2158194544ydpcc421893MsoNormal">The Summer of Giving donation honored my Mom in an extraordinary way. To know that, perhaps, Gothams generous donation can prevent one childs mother from dying in the manner my Mom did means more to
me than I can ever adequately express. And, more importantly, it would mean a lot to my Mom. So I give every year to the Summer of Giving, so someone else can have the incredible experience of making a difference.</p>
