<p style="max-width: 100%;">There's a new trend called \u201cSnapchat dysmorphia,\u201d where people are seeking out cosmetic surgery to look like the filtered and edited version of themselves shared on social media platforms like Snapchat.</p>
<p style="max-width: 100%;">If you're unfamiliar with Snapchat, you can easily make your face thinner, eyes bigger, nose smaller, etc. What's happening is that plastic surgeons are noticing that more and more patients are coming into their offices in hopes
of appearing like a filtered version of themselves in real life. People used to go to a surgeon\u2019s office with a photo of a celebrity they were hoping to look like or at least use as a model for a certain feature that they wanted. But now they are coming in
with edited and filtered photos of themselves.</p>
<p style="max-width: 100%;">\u201cSometimes I have patients who say, \u2018I want every single spot gone, and I want it gone by this week or I want it gone tomorrow,\u2019 because that\u2019s what this filtered photograph gave them,\u201d Dr. Neelam Vashi, an assistant professor of
dermatology at the Boston University School of Medicine, told The Washington Post. \u201cThey check off one thing, and it\u2019s gone. That\u2019s not realistic. I can\u2019t do that."</p>
