This is not a commercial promotion at all.  I have been a Member of Gotham for years.  AS an Anniversary Present to ourselves, my wife and I bought a high end cruise from Oceania Cruises leaving from Lima/Machu Picchu through South Pacific (to Easter Island, Pitcairn Islands, French Polynesia, Bora Bora) ending in Papeete (Tahiti) of French Polynesia for January 16 through February 3 (18 Voyage Days).  We secured a Penthouse Suite (#10019 PH-3, with a balcony).  As a consequence of some issues, we cannot make it.  The cruise includes all meals (food is terrific, free Internet for the cabin, $400 per person shipboard credit (e.g., spa, purchases, etc.) and also includes Pre Paid Tips to all staff, including the Butler service for the Room ($800 value)).  The listed cruise fare in the Brochure is $19,398 PER PERSON!  We have been on Oceania before and that cruise was spectacular (Venice to Athens).  Their ships and staff are top notch.  Of course, we didn't pay the Brochure price, we reserved and paid $7,000 a year ago, per person.  After much back and forth discussion and trying to negotiate, Oceania now only  agrees that we can substitute another couple for us into our cabin (they will not refund, provide credit for a future cruise, nor allow us to substitute the same cruise in a year).  I thought of rustling up a pair of homeless people!  Yes, of course, we should have purchased insurance but a claim likely might have been denied.  Yes, of course, we are trying to have our credit card company (AmEx) help, too.  But, bottom line, Oceania finally blinked and have "given" us the opportunity for a substitute couple.  So, anyone interested?  Anyone's parents, retired, looking for a spectacular trip?  A gift, honeymooners, anyone interested?  We are looking for $12,798 (total), $1000 less than exactly what we paid.  Incidentally, this cruise and ship are something we really wanted to go on as we even convinced two other couples to make reservations (and they are still going).  We are looking for someone interested in substituting for us.  Any interest?
