NEW YORK, March 1, 2016 -- The first staged performance of a new rock musical, “BLDZR” based on the life of Robert Moses will take place at 7pm on Thursday, April 7 at Manhattan’s Triad Theater (158 W72nd St.) featuring original RENT cast member, David Driver as Moses.

 

BLDZR is a powerful rock musical that combines the sonic impact of Green Day’s “American Idiot” with the human drama of Orson Welles’ “Citizen Kane.” Conceived and written with music and lyrics by Peter Galperin, BLDZR dramatizes master builder Robert Moses’ evolution from a young idealist fervent with a desire to build the greatest city in the world to a power-insulated enemy of the people, corrupt, lost and in ruin.

 

Starring in the lead role as Robert Moses is David Driver, a highly-regarded New York actor/musician who appeared in the original Broadway cast of RENT. Driver has also appeared at New York’s Second Stage Theater, Central Park’s Joe’s Pub/SummerStage series, and California’s La Jolla Playhouse. He’s been a featured vocalist on The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Late Night with David Letterman, and has toured with Laurie Anderson, Lou Reed, and Grammy-nominated avant-jazz master Roy Nathanson.

 

“This is a wonderful opportunity to bring this story to life on stage appealing to a younger audience that will be captivated by this epic tale,” explains composer Peter Galperin. “The musical is based both on a script that I co-wrote with screenwriter Daniel Scot Kadin and documents spanning decades of New York City history.”

 

The versatile musical cast includes the singers Sara Jecko, David Errigo Jr., and Christina Clare, and a live, four-piece rock band featuring Carl Riehl on keyboards and accordion, Bryan Percivall on bass, Patrick Carmichael on drums, and Peter Galperin on guitar.
