[Fredslist] Old Glory on 4th!

I have to say that watching the DC-National show/fireworks and the NY Macy’s show on TV (that’s as close as I dared to go) I got misty eyed more than a few times, with all my feelings about being an American and of course the ghosts of 4th of July’s past - in DC, in Boston, traveling in the US, abroad where I really missed it.  Yes it’s cheap patriotism, all those songs and of course the fireworks, but they really mean something to me.  

I also saw the amazing variety of Americans singing along, and was reinforced in my belief that the future of this country lies in - to coin a phrase - E pluribus unum, out of many, one.  Some have forgotten that.  (I checked the spelling on a quarter, we carry that phrase around with us all the time).
