Jason Knows His Stuff.

We had a few conversations, initiated by my mother selling some of her
artwork and my need to make sure she was being fairly treated. 
My mother and her sister had been collecting since the 50s and we have
several artists in the family as well.

I tossed out the names of a few semi-obscure artists and he knew all of
their work, and had enough in-depth knowledge that I immediately trust him.
When I am ready to sell my inherited works I will go directly to Jason. And
this from a (Blasphemy!) non-Sol LeWitt fan!

Last Friday I met with Jason Rulnick, the only art dealer in Gotham and
member of the Real Estate Group.

He came out to Long Island to view my wife Joanne's exhibition.  As we drove
from the train station to the exhibition I asked 

how somebody becomes an art dealer, his answer was simple-he loves art,
studied art and worked for the legendary artist Sol LeWitt.  Unbeknownst to
Jason,

Joanne and I both admire Sol's artwork and he joins me on the list of
venerable Syracuse University Alumni. What's more, it was not just that we
know his art, but 

a serendipitous meeting, because LeWitt has been a central influence in
Joanne's work for many years.

 

Jason has been navigating the art world as a private dealer and advisor
since 2004. He joined Gotham to meet "connectors"-

people that personally or professionally know other dealers, gallery owners,
and museum curators,  and of course art collectors.

Most of these types don't hang out doing business networking all week,  but
often WE do and that is how we are "connectors"

You may not know one of these types,  but your spouse, partner or client
does-that's what this is all about.
