JOB DESCRIPTION

STATUS: EXEMPT

POSITION: LOAN UNDERWRITER

LOCATION: NEW YORK CITY, NY

REPORTS TO: Director of Small Business Lending East

Summary: Under the general direction of the Director of Small Business
Lending East, the Loan

Underwriter is primarily responsible for the initial review and
underwriting of all small business

loans in accordance with the established philosophy, policies and
procedures of the organization’s

Lending Department and the Loan Board.

Essential Duties:

-Assist, as needed, in the marketing of the organization’s loan programs in
the Tri-State New

York region

-Works with Business Development Officer in screening potential loan
applicants

-Analyzes credit reports, tax returns, financial statements and business
plans to assess loan

feasibility

-Assists in the coordination of loan board/committee meetings

-Researches, analyzes and makes written and verbal presentations of credit
approval

recommendations to loan board

-Conducts Annual Performance Review and site visit of active borrowers.

-Actively participates in the community outreach program as directed

-Provides credit/underwriting support to Business Development Officer

-Prepares and participates in weekly pipeline/status report meetings

-Participates in the presentation of workshops, panels, etc… on behalf of
the organization

-Customarily and regularly exercises independent judgment

-Other duties as assigned or needed


Qualifications and Experience:

-Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent work experience of 3-5
years

-3+ years of professional experience in loan packaging and financial
analysis, preferably with

a CDFI or similar organization

-Strong knowledge in general business practices and business financing

-Computer proficiency in spreadsheets and word processing in a windows
environment

-Must have ability to develop proforma statements, cash flows and credit
analysis

-Must have strong writing skills and communication skills

-Must have ability to work with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds
