Thank you Phyllis! This is a heartwarming example of Gotham serendipty at its best. Happy to have been a
catalyst.
The moment Phyllis mentioned her friend Jacqui Bishop's work with Azlheimer's and demential prevention, reduction and reversal, I invited them both to attend a Gotham NY Health Luncheon. But who knew Phyllis would enter her friend's new charity on her business card as she envelope was passed along. And who knew that random serendipty would result in this card being pulled from a hat? "What goes around, comes around". I'm doubly honored to have introduced my remarkable friend Phyllis Dubrow to Gotham so many years ago.
Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa. I think he just may be called Fred...or maybe her name is Phyllis...and all the other Gothamly Santa helpers who make Gotham a land of very special, magical possibilities every day of th year.

Subject: [Fredslist] Thanks to all who gave: The p e r f e c t gift!
To my Gotham family,
It could not have been more magical, and appreciated: I’m ecstatic that Sharp Again Naturally, my charity of choice, was picked to be one of the Summer of Giving gift recipients; a big part of the magic was that the director, Jacqui Bishop, was right there to hear the news at the Gotham Holiday Party – because she’s loved the encouragement and warmth she’s already received from the NY Health & Aging Group and the Making a Difference Group luncheons that she’s come to.
I first invited Jaqui to come to the NY Health & Aging Group luncheon when she told me that she’d just gotten approved as a 501(c)(3) and then told me about her new organization: Its mission is to guide people who are dealing with symptoms of dementia to the means to reverse or correct the condition – notwithstanding the conventional wisdom that that can’t be done.
The website is http://www.sharpagain.org/. Take a look: There’s hopeful information, despite conventional wisdom. And the organization will continue as a clearinghouse for more.
The gift of $5,000 to a new organization will make a very big splash, and Jaqui’s head was spinning last night when she started to realize the difference that the unexpected money will make to the projects underway. There’s a documentary film and a research project in the works; when the film is complete, it will allow the word to be spread to thousands and inspire new research and new discoveries. And on and on.
It was at the luncheon that Jacqui attended with me – at the invention of Kelly Welles; I was riding the circuit! – that I wrote Sharp Again Naturally on the card that I dropped in the envelope with my contribution to the Summer of Giving. Who’d have dreamed that my contribution -- and that of the others at the table, and the others at so many other Gotham tables, and the extraordinary generosity of those who made matching gifts -- would have come back to support my dear friend, who inspires me so very much?
Jacqui was again moved to tears by the realization of who, exactly, pitched in to make her gift. To all of you, I convey her thanks.
Love to all of you.
Phyllis
